Hopewell High School Lindy Hop Club Officers Job Descriptions
NOTE: The job descriptions below can be a “work in progress” and may be revised occasionally.
Items in quotations were taken directly from the La Costa Canyon High School document on “How to Start a Club.”
PRESIDENT
“The President is the leader of the club. The club is rarely less effective than the President, who must be committed to the aims and purposes of the organization. The President presides over and conducts meetings according to parliamentary procedures. The President is responsible for developing agendas, scheduling fundraisers and events, creating a budget, and working with club advisors/sponsors.”
Examples of duties include:
· Coordinating community service activities (i.e., performing at a local senior center)
· Doing announcements at the beginning of club meetings
· Coordinating performance activities (i.e., Festival in the Park)
· Coordinates the T-shirt design contest
VICE PRESIDENT
“The Vice President assists the President in carrying out his/her duties. In the absence of the President, the Vice President presides over the meeting and carries out the meeting as the President would have done. The Vice President should be fully informed on all matters pertaining to the club and be prepared to assume all the responsibilities of the President if the need arises. Perhaps the most important role of the Vice President is overseeing all committee work.”
Examples of duties include:
· Assisting the President with any of the above mentioned activities
· Taking over when the President is in absentia
SECRETARY
“The Secretary’s job entails a great deal of careful attention to detail. The Secretary must take accurate notes of all meetings and prepare minutes. In addition, the Secretary prepares correspondence on behalf of the club. The Secretary assists the President in keeping permanent records for the club.”
Examples of duties include:
· Takes attendance at the beginning of each club meeting
· Assists with records relating to who turned in forms and dues, T-shirt sizes, etc.
· Keeps track of what is taught in each club meeting
· Manages the Facebook group for the club
· Creates any emails or other correspondence that will be sent to all club members. Reviews with the club advisors/sponsors to get approval prior to sending.
TREASURER
“The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records of all club expenditures. The Treasurer makes reports at regular meetings (on a monthly basis) of all money spent and collected and the balance.”
Examples of duties include:
· Keeping accurate records of how much money we have in student dues
· Researches vendors for club T-shirts/sweatshirts and presents research and recommendations back to club advisors/sponsors in a timely fashion
· Tracks all monies received via fundraising events
